I've been using Vista since two weeks before the official release. I'm relatively satisfied, but one thing still bugs me: Vista doesn't do File Tagging, Rating or Commenting. Seriously. They SAY it does, but it does not. What it does do, is edit metadata in a very few file types that have internal metadata which Vista understands. Therefore, you can tag and rate music, video, MS Word files, and pictures. That's IT. NEWS FLASH: There are other types of files! I have 5 hard drives...
Live Writer broke a while back - trying to see if maybe it is fixed?
Testing posting via Windows Live Writer. Picture.... Etc. Looks good. But, it doesn't support all features apparently. Can't set subtitles, or hyperlink at the top... I'm sure there are more omissions. But handy for posting pictures, it will auto-thumbnail and upload to the FTP server. Also doesn't seem to support sub-categories.. .that's a minus. I guess I'll just use it for posts with pics.
(Yes this is correctly categorized as Politics... trust me, read on) Blasted English Degree. I can no longer enjoy just reading a news article anymore. Now I always notice when clueless authors use adjectives instead of adverbs. Such as this line: "facts and figures now come cheaper and faster than ever before" What is being modified by the adjectives Cheaper & Faster? The facts and figures? If so, it should be worded: "facts and figures are now cheaper and faster than ever be...
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/36093/118/ Toshiba has ceased production of HD-DVD and will soon be switching over to Blu-Ray thanks to a joint venture it hedged with Samsung. This leaves Microsoft as the only big name left with HD-DVD on the xBox 360 (thankfully as an external addon, not internal). Obviously, they'll have to come out with a Blu-Ray player themselves soon, which will be quite a lump to swallow since it is a Sony format.
I tried, really I did. I wanted to get into the fanfic scene, but I am just too vanilla for it. I like those het fics that nobody else seems interested in, and I have a bit more of a literary bent. So, now I'm kinda halfway regretting buying "seventhbook.com" in anticipation of the 7th book last year. I even spent countless hours customising eFiction to look completely unique to any other eFic site. Then I got bored. Anybody interested in picking up the site and working on it? I haven'...
Got Vista, and wouldn't you know it, got problems. I'm just one of many, I know, but I might as well share with the world MY experience on Vista.. 1) Initial install failed utterly. Vista told me it couldn't find a suitable partition. 'scuse me? I had just wiped 200gb on my XP drive, leaving XP on the first 120gb, and the rest of the drive clear. I ended up going back to XP, setting the second partition active, going back to Vista setup, and it let me install. Then it gave me "Error lo...
I'm quoting Draginol's post here: Link a bit. I'm responding to his issues from a point of view of how they affect education. #3 Corporate Tax cuts. Of course Draginol wants this - he is a businessperson. People in a position to vote themselves larger pieces of the pie will by human nature almost always choose to vote themselves the larger piece of pie. And, I can't totally disagree that huge taxes place a burden on business. However, simple math is, SOMEBODY has to pay for this countr...
I just sent a very long complaint to Office Depot HQ... have no idea if it will get any ears, don't really care, I guess. I just had to send it. The gist is that yesterday I was bored and walked into an Office Depot. I've been considering buying a laser printer, since over the longrun ink costs are less than inkjet if you refill your own toner. Now, there are some considerations there. First, I can order them rather cheaply online. But sometimes Office Depot, Circuit City and the like, ...
I spent 22 hours in the hell of I-45 yesterday with my 84 year old grandmother. We made it to Dallas just fine. However, I'm catching up on the news this morning, and I'm seeing a thread of thought that is REALLY PISSING ME OFF. Emergency officials in Brazoria County (South of Houston) are blaming Houston/Harris County for causing the gridlock conditions by inciting unecessary panic. There are officials blaming evacuees for leaving when they didn't have to, for example, those whose home...
I'm spiritual. I believe there's a spiritual aspect to life not explained by science. That said, i've also studied a lot more of human history (and therefore humanity itself) than most of you. It's what my degree was in. I know enough of human history to have serious doubts about the authenticity of this book we call the bible. Much of it was made up, created, edited to suit current political agendas (in Rome as well as later).. Many of the errors are by ommission, others by interpretation...
I have always enjoyed holding in contempt people who read People. The magazine. It has always seemed a bit silly to me that instead of worrying about things that make a difference in their lives, people spend time following the lives of celebrities who are so far removed from their reality that they might as well be fiction. I have for years, when the topics of movies and movie stars comes up, been lost when people start tossing around names of actors. The same with musicians. I just didn'...
I've been looking for a Mac Expose-like task manager. There are several I've found, like WinPLOSION, but they all seem to freak out about having IconX/DesktopX loaded. WinPLOSION simply doesn't work at all, it flickers and turns off IconX, flickers and turns it back on, but never actually works... Anyone know of one that *does* work?
The more I study history, the more I realize that we aren't quite as perfect as we thought. Everyone has a feeling that the world is getting better, and that things are better here and now than they ever were. In some cases, that might be true. In other cases though, it isn't. Are we freer than ever? We're definitely more free than a 19th century slave on a southern plantation. But we aren't as free as a mountain man on the frontier. Do we have a better government? We certainly have more infl...
I watched the movie "Adaptation" (Starring Nicholas Cage) last night... It was "pretty good". I think Cage over-acted the part a bit. The protagonist has a fear of social situations, and spends all of his time second-guessing things he does, and what people thinka bout him, and it ends up paralyzing him socially so that he can't participate normally in society. The part I think was overacted was the outside component of this, it was bordering on cheesy, in my opinion. It just didn't feel g...
